Degas at the Opera

This is an ongoing exhibition in this museum which will last till the 19th of January, 2020.

Yan Pei-Ming, a renowned Chinese painter, arrived in France in the year 1980, when he was 20 years old. He went to the Ornas where the Gustave Courbet’s lived. He got inspired by the painting “A Burial at Ornas” which is a masterpiece of Gustave that is a true representation of Realism. From the influence of this painting, Yang created “A Burial at Shanghai” as a tribute to Gustave. This painting was specifically created for Musee d’Orasy to mark Courbet’s 200th birth anniversary.

The exhibition which showcases the wonderful painting of Yan Pei-Ming started before a few weeks and will last till January 12, 2020.

The Land of Monsters, Leopold Chauveau

Even though Leopold Chauveau was a doctor by profession, he always wanted to become an artist. He proved his talents in different fields of art. He was a well-known writer, illustrator and sculptor. He wrote books for both children and adults.

For a long period, this great artist remained forgotten in art history. His name became popular again when his grandson gifted some of his works to the Musee d’Orsay. It included 100 drawings and18 sculptures.

Chauveau self-taught the art of creating sculptors around 1907 after his medical practicing for several years. From the year 1907, monsters became the main theme of his drawings and sculptures. In fact, he saw them as companions in a world which he created through his imagination.
